New 'Mou Girl' Yan Ni featured in fashion

Yan Ni, the female lead in Zhang Yimou's latest film, "A Simple Noodle Story", has been featured in the fashion magazine "Hotspot".
 
In Zhang Yimou's much-hyped film, Yan Ni plays the shrewish proprietress of a deserted noodle restaurant. Her impressive performance has brought her a new name, the "Mou girl", which is used to describe actresses who rose to fame through Zhang Yimou's films.
 
Unlike Mou girls Zhang Ziyi and Gong Li, 38-year-old Yan Ni says she is still new to fashion magazines. The actress told "Hotspot" that she did not "seriously shoot magazine covers" until a year ago.
 
"When I posed for a photo spread for the first time, I acted so awkwardly that in the end the photographer got mad at me," Yan Ni says, "It's much easier now."
