Haicang Oil Painting Village in China

Xiamen has a strong industry advantage in commercial oil painting. The city has two main manufacturing bases - Wushipu Oil Painting Village and Haicang Oil Painting Village.
 
Wushipu Oil Painting Village, located in Huli District, has been named as "the second of the world oil painting industry base" and "the second batch of national cultural (art) industry base" by the China artist association and the culture property department of Culture Ministry.
 
As another main manufacturing base of oil painting, Xiamen Haicang Oil Painting Village is located in the outlying district of Haicang.  

The village has a factory workspace of more than 20,000 square meters as its painting industry base. There are 418 stores, 600 suites for painters, and a "special oil painting commercial street" awarded by the Fujian Provincial Government for both painting sales and display.
 
Under the support, planning and good guidance of the Haicang District government's policies, Haicang Oil Painting Village has developed rapidly in recent years and has attracted more and more professional art galleries and artists from all over the world.
 
There were only 20 professional art galleries at the Haicang Oil Painting Village in 2007. However, after two years' development, the number has increased to more than 300, and the number of painters has exceeded 5,000 by September of 2009.
 
 
With supporting companies that supply paint, canvas, picture frames, and other supplies continuing to enter the area, a perfect art and oil painting environment has been created.
 
Haicang Oil Painting Village has given impetus to the robust development of local tourism, real estate and other tertiary industries. It plays an important role in promoting the cultural exchanges between the Chinese mainland and Taiwan.
 
Haicang Oil Painting Village is said to be one of the most beautiful oil painting streets and villages in China and has proven to be one of the most suitable and desirable art bases for artist’s efforts and creativity.
