A fine arts show is reviewing the most memorable moments in the recent history of Chinese nation. It's an ambitious project that required great efforts by some of the nation's top artists.
The exhibition features over a hundred works of art. They include oil
paintings, traditional Chinese paintings, and sculptures. The pieces combine to
present a chronicle of the heroic endeavors of the Chinese nation since the
Opium War in the 1840s.
Each work is a product of the National Project of Historically Themed
Fine Arts, which gets its funding from the central government.
Launched in 2004, the project enlisted the most talented artists from
across the country.
Among them are Jin Shangyi, Zhan Jianjun, Feng Yuan, and Wang Mingming.
These artists displayed their sense of cultural mission and their insight into
the evolution of Chinese history.
Major works include "The First National Congress of the Communist Party
of China", "Revolutionary Endeavor of Jinggangshan Mountain, "March of the
Volunteers", "The Birth of New China", and "Educated Youth in the
Countryside."
The show first opened last month at the National Fine Art Museum in
Beijing. Shanghai is the second leg of its national tour, which will cover all
major Chinese cities over the months to come.
