Myanmar will attend the China Golden Rooster and Hundred Flowers Film Festival next month, aimed at showcasing Myanmar culture and exchanging views with international counterparts, sources with the Myanmar Motion Picture Enterprise (MMPE) said on Tuesday.
In the six-day 18th Chinese film festival, scheduled from Oct. 13 to 18 in Nanchang, China's Jiangxi Province, two Myanmar movies-- "Piece of String" and "Myaw Lint Chin Myar Swar" (Much Expectation) will be screened with English subtitles, the sources said, adding that the latter movie, which features education on HIV/AIDS, had won four awards -- best film award, best director award, best editing award and best supporting actor award in domestic film academy awards for 2006.
Along with the director, two actors and actress, who played their roles in the latter movie, will attend the film festival, the sources said.
In 2007, Myanmar also took part in another Chinese film festival in Suzhou with the film "Hexagon".
Meanwhile, Myanmar is making efforts to promote the standard of the country's video features and movie production for penetrating foreign markets, urging artists to cooperate with international counterparts to improve domestic movie industry, while preserving and safeguarding national cultural heritage, national prestige and national character through the arts of film.
For the development of TV and movie sector, Myanmar sent delegations in the past few years to international radio, movie and TV shows, Beijing Film Festival and 16th Chinese Golden Rooster Film Festival as well as to China, China's Hong Kong and Singapore to learn the digital camera technology and to India to study the TV broadcasting.
