Located in Ganzi Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture, southwest China's Sichuan Province, Jiaju (literally means a village with one hundred households) Tibetan Village now has more than 160 families. Since it introduced theme tours featuring Tibetan culture and rural life, the villagers, who used to rely entirely on farming as a major source of their income, have become prosperous. The village topped Chinese National Geography's list of "China's Six Most Beautiful Towns and Villages" in 2005. In 2007,the income from tour tickets reached 1.2 million yuan and one third of the households are capable of receiving tourists.
