Hit the Night Markets for Food in Taiwan (Part I) Never have I seen such enthusiasm for night markets. There is a night market for food in nearly every city in Taiwan. People flock to where the markets are located whenever night falls. And then, the party begins. I visited three night markets during my stay in Taiwan, and my first stop was the Shilin night market, which is the largest and most popular of its kind throughout the island. The market is divided into several sections according to its business range. But my main interest was food. Taiwan is in the subtropical and tropical zone that is rich in fruit production. Fresh fruit juice is at its best here. One of the most well-known Taiwan snacks is the oyster omelet. There are numerous kiosks selling oyster omelets, but they come with different sauces that are usually secret family recipes. The Shilin night market in Taipei is a favorite dining place for residents and tourists alike Like any other road in Gaoxiong city, Liuhe Road couldn't be more ordinary during the day. But when night comes, it is transformed into a prosperous market teeming with vendors and diners. Gaoxiong city's location by the ocean makes the Liuhe night market an ideal choice for seafood. Among the various choices of fresh shrimps, oysters and crabs, you can choose what you want in your seafood soup. Pieces of plump, soft squid wait to be cooked.
