The Summer
Palace
It is the best preserved imperial garden in the world and the
largest of its kind that still in existence in China today. The harmonious
layout of the garden is a Chinese architectural masterpiece that combines both
the gorgeous landscape and the treasure of the traditional Chinese gardening
art.
Zhuozheng
Garden
Zhuozheng garden is divided into three parts, The Eastern
Garden, The Western Garden and The Central Garden, of which each of them has
very different characteristic. The Eastern Garden comprises beautiful pavilions,
crystal-clear pools and elegant corridors. Pools and small rivers are all
around, elegant bridges, as well as the scenes of "hills" in the middle of
lakes, very interesting.
Canglang
Pavilion
Canglang Pavilion emphasizes the harmony between man made
buildings and the natural environment. Beautiful scenery composed of a green
water pool that is surrounded by a growth of weeping willows. Incredible man
made rock formations that are divided into two parts. The architectures that
have been built in the garden are simply and classically designed which present
a Qing Dynasty style.
Ge
Garden
Ge Garden uses bamboo and rocks as its principal elements and
is characterized by stone-piling. Different rockeries are formed from different
kinds of rocks to represent different scenes in the four seasons, hence the name
“four-season-rockery”. Using the grotesque shapes of the rocks, a distinctive
scene consisting of bamboo and rocks is formed.
Wangshi Garden
Wangshi Garden consists of a
residential quarter and the garden proper. Inside the refined residential
quarter, the halls are linked closely by a corridor. The garden, petite but
substantial, is focused on a pond and decorated with plants, rocks, pavilions,
and stone bridges.
Jichang Garden
It’s famous for
making the surround landscape part of its own. Such as making up inside pools,
modeling rocks in fine art shaped hills, let the renowned spring’s water flow
through the garden. Reflection of mountain pagoda and soft waves in the pool can
be seen. It’s folk manner, clean and quite, making this small garden is the best
one among Jiangnan gardens.
Yu
Garden
Yu Garden, a classical garden in downtown Shanghai, boasts a
history over 400 years. Each pavilion, hall, stone and stream in the garden is
expressing the quintessence of South China landscape design from Ming and Qing
Dynasty. Over forty spots, divided by dragon walls, wound corridors and
beautiful flowers, form a unique picture featuring "one step, one beauty; every
step, every beauty.”
Qi
Garden
It is a pearl among Zhejiang gardens. Occupying an area of
about 10,000 square meters, the whole garden is almost covered by trees, of
which nearly 1000 are famous old trees. Some soars up on the peak of the
mountain loftily, some lies in the valley peacefully and some stands beside the
cliff freely. Besides, there are small bamboos as well as vines cling the trees
tightly.
Qinghui Garden
Inside the Park, the
construction is exquisite with a unique style and combines the feature of South
China’s building and the garden on the south of the Yangtze River. Its main
buildings include Bixi Grass House, Bisheng Flower Display Room, Time Cherishing
Study, Guiji Farmhouse, Clear Wave Temple, Eight Angle Pool, Bamboo Room, Dou
Hole, Monkey Mountain, etc.
Old Lotus
Pool
Old Lotus Pool is a waterlocked pavilion with the significant
features of the classic garden of both the North and the South China. Covering a
total area of 24,000 square meters, the water area of more than 7900 square
meters, the pond is filled with lotus in the summer, thus, it got the name.
There are beautiful sight spots such as Shuidong Tower, Zaoyong Hall, Junzi
Changsheng Museum, Xiangqin Pavilion and so
on.
