MOCA Shanghai

The Museum of Contemporary Art Shanghai (上海当代艺术中心MOCA Shanghai) is the first non-profit, independently-operated contemporary art institution in Shanghai. Endorsed by the Shanghai Municipal Government and funded by the Samuel Kung Foundation, MOCA Shanghai is devoted to the promotion of Chinese and international contemporary art.

The Museum is located in the People's Park, directly center of the administrative and cultural hub of the city. Surrounding buildings include the Municipal Government Headquarters, the Shanghai Grand Theatre, the Shanghai Art Museum and the Shanghai Museum. Managed by a team of local and international professionals with extensive curatorial and administrative experiences, MOCA Shanghai intends to lead in nurturing the appreciation of Chinese and international contemporary art and design. In turn, we hope to encourage cultural exchange between Shanghai and the world.

Mission of MOCA Shanghai:

? To bring to China high quality international contemporary art and design and to encourage global cultural exchange
? To collect and research on Chinese contemporary art and design
? To serve as an information center for Chinese contemporary art

MOCA Shanghai is a museum for the people. Located in the historic People's Park, MOCA will be a popular place for Shanghai residents as well as overseas visitors.


Transportation Guide
By Subway
Take Subway No.1 to the People's Square station, leave from Exit No. 4.
Take Subway No.2 to the People's Square station, leave from Exit No. 9.

By Bus
Take Bus No. 18, No. 20, No. 37, No. 123, No. 201, No. 46, No. 49, No. 531, No. 574, No. 921 to the People's Square.

Special Routes
From Pudong International Airport to MOCA
Take No. 3 Airport Shuttle Bus to the Longyang Subway Station, then take Subway No. 2 to the People's Square. Leave from Exit No. 9.
Take the Elevated Magnetic Train to the Longyang Subway Station, then take Subway No. 2 to the People's Square. Leave from Exit 9.
From Hongqiao Airport to MOCA
Take Airport Special Line to Jinan Temple Subway Station, then take Subway No. 2 to the People's Square. Leave from Exit No. 9.
From Shanghai Railway Station to MOCA
Take Subway No.1 to the People's Square station. Leave from Exit No. 9.

Museum Hours
Monday to Sunday: 10am - 9:30 pm
Opening hours are also subject to change when exhibition installations and special events are held.

Admission fees
Adult: 20 RMB
Students (with full-time student ID): 10 RMB
Senior citizens, retired officials and soldiers, and the disabled: 10 RMB
Children (1.1 m and under, accompanied by adult):
*This policy does not apply to children in groups
(For group tickets over 20 students, price becomes 8 RMB per student.teachers are free.)
