Strawberries are a great fruit and it can be a
lot of fun for the whole family to go to the strawberry patch and spend some
quality time together picking fresh strawberries to take home and eat.
January, February and March are the best seasons to pick fresh
strawberries in strawberry patches, and there are serveral strawberries patchs
along Huandao Road from Yefengzhai (椰风寨) to Taiwan Folk Culture Village (台湾民俗村).
Tourists won’t miss them, for there are “strawberry” signs around Yefengzhai.
Tips on picking strawberries:
- Arrive at the
strawberry patch early. The theory of the early bird getting the worm is really
true. It will take you a couple of hours to pick strawberries, so you need to
make sure you arrive at the strawberry patch earlier so that you can get the
freshest strawberries you want.
- Bring a small rug or beach towel to
kneel on. Some patches have straw in their rows but it can still be hard on the
knees and your pants can get dirty quite quickly. Your time picking strawberries
will be a lot more enjoyable when you are not in pain.
- Bring your
pails and have a lot of fun. It’s a great opportunity to get friends and family
together and pick strawberries. The best part about it is going home with your
fresh fruit and making delicious desserts and jams.
