In August 2009, ancient tombs dating back to before the Qin dynasty (before 221 BC) were unearthed on the southern slop of Fufu Mountain in Zengcheng City, 80km away from Guangzhou.
After several months of excavation, over 350 tombs
were unearthed. However, experts believe this may represent only one third of
the total number of tombs. They believe the graveyard contains 1,000 ancient
tombs spread over 100,000 square meters. Over 1,000 relics have been discovered
including some rare stones, pottery, iron, bronze and jade.
