Foshan University (merger between its predecessor and Foshan Agriculture & Animal Husbandry College) is a designated full-time comprehensive university under the ratification of the State Education Ministry in 1995. In 2002, Foshan University passed the national teaching assessment for bachelor's degree program. After merging with Foshan Medical College and Foshan College of Education in 2005, Foshan University has currently four campuses including home campus, Northern campus, Hebin Road campus, and Tongji West campus, covering a land area of 2,254 acres, with a total construction area of 341,400 square meters. There are nine schools across campuses: Literature & Art School, Law & Politics School, Science School, Mechatronics & Information Engineering School, Environment & Civil Engineering School, Life Science School, Business School, Medical School, Education Science School. International School, Continuing Education School, and Nanhai School have also been established. At present, the University has been developing into a well-structured, multidisciplinary university with a full set of specialties. Currently, 44 bachelor's degree programs and 9 three-year (post-secondary) diploma programs are offered to 10,897 full-time students (9362 undergraduates, 1535 junior college students) and 12,008 continuing education students. 1,523 staff work for the University, of which 813 are teaching faculties (509 with senior professional titles, 97 being Professors, 101 PhD holders, over 50 doctoral candidates, 375 Master's Degree holders, and over 70 teachers having overseas education and/or working experience). The University also invites and employs foreign experts and visiting professors. The world well-known scientists such as Dr. Yang Zhenning, Dr. Samuel C. C. Ting, and many others are honorary professors of Foshan University. The University Library holds about 1,338,700 volumes of books with over 4000 kinds of journals and over 280 newspapers, over 10,000 e-books, 9 Chinese and foreign language databases, over 7000 full-text academic periodicals in Chinese, and over 7000 full-text academic periodicals in foreign languages. The University's own publication is Journal of Foshan University (social science version and natural science version). The fixed assets of integrated teaching & research equipments value RMB 115,240,000 . The University owns modern teaching and research facilities such as Information & Teaching Technology Centre, experiment centers, farms, experimental orchards, Animal Clinic, hatcheries, Affiliated Stomatologic Hospital, and many other well-equipped laboratories. A duck research and development branch of the National Livestock Technology Research Centre is also located at Foshan University. Foshan University is jointly established and supervised by Guangdong and Foshan Governments with the core administration focused on the municipal level. As a local education-oriented higher education institution, Foshan University advocates the philosophy of institutional operation, namely, upholding the people-oriented principle, pursuing quality education, and demonstrating unique features. A complete system of Xianhu Duck has passed the national species evaluation and obtained the first water bird species certificate in the country. At present, focusing on multi-level undergraduate taught programs, the University has launched joint master's degree programs with domestic and overseas higher education institutions. Up till now, the University has established cooperative academic relationship with Middlesex University, Staffordshire University, Hertfordshire University, Wales University in the U.K.; Bridgeport University, Christopher Newport University, Maricopa Community College, and Northwestern Polytechnic University in U.S.A.; South Westfalen University of Applied Sciences in Germany; Waikato University in New Zealand; Curtin University and Royal Melbourne Institution of Technology in Australia; Mondlane University in Mozambique, Hong Kong Polytechnic University, Nordvestjysk Education Center (NVU) in Denmark and so on. Since 1997, Foshan University has been cooperating with universities from seven countries such as the United States, Russia to initiate and develop Project INTOP, a simulated multinational corporation project. Each of the seven universities takes turn to host the event each year and Foshan University has been designating faculties and students to participate in it.
