   Brief Introduction to HIT                      
Founded in 1920 and after 85 years of development, Harbin Institute of Technology (HIT), with science, engineering and research as its core, encompassing management and liberal arts, has developed into an open, scientific research and multi-disciplinary nationally famous university. Presently, more than 100,000 graduates have stepped into society. Today HIT has been designated by the state as one of the 9 selected institutions of higher education to receive preferential support to develop into a first-rate Chinese university modeled after advanced world-class universities of the 21st century.The registered students of various types amount to over 55,500, including more than 1000 foreign students. HIT now has Shenzhen Graduate School and Weihai Branch, totally 68 undergraduate programs, 100 master’s programs, 68 doctoral programs, 18 post-doctoral mobile stations,1 post-doctoral working station, 18 national key disciplines, 22 national and provincial (ministerial) key laboratories. HIT took the lead among universities in China to establish a New Hi-Tech Park, a HIT Scientific Park and an International Research Institute of Technical Innovation in Shenzhen.
